the sun is setting
and it's beautiful

the sky paints pastel colors working in time with the sun as the clouds shift and the earth spins into a vibrant brilliance of light
some days only a sliver between the gray others, none at all but on a cloudless, clear evening the sun bids farewell with a twinkling shimmer and a dazzling exit
the world of in-between is quite familiar devoid of light and dark before father goes down and mother awakes
the whispered hues of orange, yellow and red blend into a gentle harmony as the world becomes quiet and it’s just you and the sky
father finally goes to sleep mother comes to work she cleans the leftover dishes under the candle-lit moonlight
the gentle swell of the tides accompany her silence as you head off to sleep following father’s footsteps
mother is a beacon illuminating the path for all to see bleeding white and red as the water rolls the sand away
hi, long time no see! exams are over so i can finally write again. i was actually gonna submit this to scholastic (i wrote this so long ago) but ended up not. i still really like this poem so i decided to share it with the world. it’s what you make of it, really. enjoy, with more to come soon!
